A domain is a useful but limited starting point

Signup flows, admin tools, partner pages, and CRM records often start with a domain. Public homepage metadata can provide a brand name, short description, icon hints, OpenGraph fields, and social links before a person completes the record.

  • Normalize copied URLs down to a public domain.
  • Fetch brand_name, title, description, icons, logo hints, and social links.
  • Show confidence and evidence near any generated profile copy.
  • Refresh public metadata when a record is old or the homepage changes.

Do not treat metadata as verified firmographics

Homepage content can be stale, incomplete, or intentionally brief. A good enrichment workflow labels the data as public brand evidence and avoids using it as legal identity, employee count, revenue, or ownership proof.

  • Keep public metadata separate from verified customer records.
  • Let users edit prefilled onboarding fields.
  • Avoid internal or private hostnames.
  • Use batch mode when one bad domain should not block the whole import.

Agents should cite evidence, not just the profile

When an AI agent uses domain metadata, it should report the confidence score and evidence fields when the answer matters. That makes the enrichment useful without pretending it is stronger than the public signals support.
